Indecision

Ever wonder what indecision looks like? At my house, this is what it looks like right now...

I've GOT to get that pink painted over, but I have NO idea what color to go. We have this deep wine colored carpet that we're not changing right away, so it can't clash with that, and that probably limits me a lot. What color would you paint? Do you like any of those paint chips?

Edited to add: this is my dining room, but I also need to paint over these same two pinks in the hall, stairwell, upstairs hallway and living room. And here is a picture of the light fixture in the dining room that I do like and I don't think we'll replace... might help you give me some ideas. :)

And here's the darker pink of the wall under the chair rail and the carpet. Its pretty close to the acutal color... not quite since I'm working in artificial light with a flash, but not too far off. I also want to paint or replace the trim throughout the house (white), but that is a project for another time.

What room is it you're painting?

this is the dining room, but this stairwell, upstairs hallway and living room are all this same pink paint (living room is the lighter color, halls are the darker). I don't know if I should make the living & dinig room the same color, or different colors, of have it all the same... I just don't know! I've been thinking about beadboard below the chair rail there (which is only in the dining room)... give me a few and I'll post a picture of the light fixture in that dining room which I really do like...

Ewwww! I HATE pink walls. I'm not even very fond of it in girl's rooms. (Annabelle's room is green, with pink curtains instead of walls.)
I like blues and greens so there's my two cents. Good luck!

It think I need a shot of the carpet. Maybe with the paint samples on the floor.... To compare, you know? And I love that light fixture!

Thanks, Sarah. I love the light too. I kind of wanted to move it into the entrance way, but the ceiling isn't high enough there. So in the dining room it stays. :) I'd really love the freedom to play off of some of the colors in the fixture, but I feel so limited by that darned carpet.

Yeah, I would too. My mother-in-law has a dark burgundy carpet in her living room and she has yellow walls. It's a really nice effect. I personally am drawn to the yellow color chip in the middle of the bottom picture. The bottom half of the color card. That's my two cents if it helps any!! Good luck!

Oh my word! I think I had those exact same swatches when were painting our house. I think it took me 9 months to decide (I'm a bit indecisive if you couldn't tell :) It is going to look awesome!

I am leaning toward yellow-tan to go with the burgundy. It looks like there is some of that color in the light fixture. Is it really there, or just the photo? The yellow/tan would also play well with the current color of woodwork.

Go for a gray/bluish one...more gray. I'm sorry I'm a bad friend and haven't emailed you. Please forgive me

I like yellow, but it has to be pale. Chips always look lighter than the real deal. A taupe would look really nice with the floor and it's neutral enough to go with whatever carpet you decide on later. But my all time fave would be a really neutral olive color.

i love the neutrals...khaki always works great with all carpet types. my mom did a sesame color at home depot with her burgendy carpet (now has wood) and it was really pretty. i love duel colors, darker brown and lighter cream on top! :) works well with pinks/burgendy accents! :)
