Carter the Composer

Today he gives you "The Dump Truck Song".

Earlier it was "The Digging Song", and in the bath the other day it was "The Car Song", which went "Racing, racing, racing, jumping over two washcloths and racing, racing, racing..."

I think he may need to work with a lyricist. :)

Carter-isms

Carter has QUITE the vocabulary for the little tyke that he is. Here are some of the funny things we hear him say a lot

I did it!
I come! (as in, I want to come in the store, don't leave me in the car with daddy!)
I did the buckle! (on his carseat)
button
Elmo
I want mouse
I want bear
I want book
I want that
I want milk
shoes... he's got a strange fascination with them
bath
ducky
ball
I want ball
basketball (he says it "bak-e-baw")
crayon
sticker
puppy (which is any and every animal)
candy (said Caaa-eeeee)
granola bar (said na-guh baw)
I go downstairs
stinky and poop (lovely... if only that was a sure sign of time to potty train...)
game (as in, computer games, that Allison has recently discovered and Carter feels he MUST get his fair turn at).
ride (in the laundry basket)
Ah-ice (his attempt at Allison)
Dane ni! (that's "Dang it!" And he uses it in correct context too...)

If you can't tell, the kid's quite a talker. And between him and Allison there are very few pieces of quiet for mommy to grasp at most days. *sigh* :)

Things of note:

These were probably worth mentioning... but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

*Allison is fully potty-trained, and 98% accident-free. She's also very independant about it... I generally don't have to remind her to go. She'll tell me she has to, then run upstairs and do it all herself. Its wonderful (and it cut my diaper budget in half!). And it was easy... on our third try.

*Carter is walking. He's very cute when he walks, because he's so darned chubby. He sticks his belly out. Its adorable. Sometimes I look around and wonder who dropped their toddler off for me, becuase that can't possibly be my baby.

*We FINALLY managed to get family pictures taken. Sadly, we could not get the kids to sit nicely for a photo together, but we got a few good ones of all 4 of us. I'd call that an accomplishment. I think this one is my favorite.

Next year, I aspire to use a real photographer. But these are good for now.

An Almost-Crawling Carter

Carter is so close to crawling! I'm actually a little surprised he hasn't figured it out completely yet. He's got a crazy fast army crawl and can get into crawl position and move his knees... he just can't figure the hands out yet.

Lately he's been pushing up into downward-facing dog position... I think he's trying to build strengthen in his arms.

Its a little hard to tell in this photo, but he's on his toes, not his knees.

Isn't he a handsome kid?

Storyteller

Carter is a very talkative baby. Wonder where he learned that from? He's my little story teller. Check it out...

Heads up!

Look how strong he is... and yes, that is spit-uppy drool hitting my shirt the moment this photo was taken. Such is life of a mommy, right?

Smiley Boy

Carter started smiling on Friday, May 1st... his 5-week day (he's advanced!).

It took us a little while to get a picture of it. Isn't his smile cute? This hardly even shows it well... when he gets in a smiling mood he's all huge, full face smiles. They are adorable! In comparision, this is tiny, hardly-a-smile-at-all smile... but its still cute.
