Yay Spring!

It has been a LONG winter. And we have been cooped up inside ALL winter (hello... 174 inches of snow this winter! Thats 50 inchs above normal season's average!). I think we've all gotten a bad case of, as my 5-year-old self would have said "cabinet fever." The kids have been going crazy, and took me right along with them.

Luckily, its been nice weather this week. High 40s and sunny. Would I call it spring? Not really, but I'll take it for now! Warm enough to let the kids play outside! And, today, windy enough to let Allison fly her first kite!

The House of the Lord

The Oquirrh Mountain Temple in West Jordan is in open house right now. This is the second open house in Utah in 6 months. Brian and I skipped the Draper open house, and we're glad we did. It was busy all the time from what we heard. We did decide that we couldn't pass up the opprotunity to take the kids to the Oquirrh Mountain open house.

I'm so glad we picked this open house. The temple is beautiful, and while it was busy, it wasn't too crazy to be difficult with the kids in tow. We thouroughly enjoyed our morning there.

By the way, the sun was bright and we were facing it, and it was windy... it was really tough to get a half-decent picture of the 4 of us there.

New PJs

We've been having trouble finding fall/winter PJs for Allison lately. She's small baby, so even though she's 14 months, she's only wearing size 9 months at most. The problem with PJs is that they don't put grippers on the feeties until size 12 months, which look about twice as big as Allison is. What are we to do?

Its Grandma to the rescue! My mom made Allison 4 pairs of PJs that fit PERFECTLY and are so cute. Allison loves them and so do we. Thanks, Grandma!

An Unexpected Souvenir

Well... I'm ready to spill the beans. Brian and I apparently made our way home from Europe with a little surprise souvenir...

Yep... Thats right. We are having another baby this spring. Currently 11 weeks along... Due April 1st. Two under two... I'm mildy terrified.

One Year Photos

We took Allison in to get her one-year photos today. I wasn't real crazy about how the session turned out as a whole. Either the photographer didn't have a ton of imagination, or Allison was just too difficult (wanting to crawl around instead of sitting/standing still to have her photo taken)... probably a combination of the two. Anyway... we did get two or three really cute photos out of it. Here is one of my favorites.

Thanks, Grandma Thornock!

For those of you who have looked at the link to the Toddler Shirt Dress (thats what I call it anyway) and have wondered if they're really as cute as the tutorial makes them look, the answer is a resounding YES! My mother-in-law saw the tutorial and was inspired... she has made one for each of her granddaughters and they turned out so adorable. Now, granted, I haven't seen any of them except Allison, but just look how cute it turned out!

Thanks, Grandma! We love it!

PS - Pardon and ignore the not so cute mommy in the background... Saturday is lazy pajamas till 10 am day in our house... =)

General Conference Peek-a-boo

Kind of like General Conference or General Authority Bingo, but for babies. Allison was playing during the afternoon session and it was too cute!

First spaghetti

Allison tried her first taste of "real" food... she had leftover spaghetti for lunch yesterday.
I think she liked it! =)

Flinging

Brian and I have spent our evenings this week "flinging." Or, at least, thats what my mom told me we were doing. It all started in our spare bedroom/Brian's guitar room/Rosie's craft & sewing room. It has never really been organized and I think I finally got fed up. I started flinging... that is, I grabbed a grocery sack and started filling it with things that I decided I did not need or want. Then I did the same in the bathroom (come on ladies, we've all got entirely too many lotions and creams and yummy smelling stuff hidden away in our cupboards). Then the desk... then my closet... the the book cases... I couldn't stop!

It was amazing! I posted all the stuff I no longer wished for my house on Freecycle (its a give and take Yahoo! group) and today, officially 4 minutes ago, it is ALL gone! I'm so excited! For the first time I feel like my house is really getting clean (well, its been clean... my mom did a great job making sure of that when she was here when Allison was born, but this time I did it) and decluttered and organized! Yeah!!!
Next step: IKEA for organizational tools. I've got my eye on a few of these beauties!

Get-together with friends

Yesterday was a fun day. I was able to get together with 4 of my former roommates. I lived with these girls before I went to Nauvoo five years ago (was it really that long ago?). We got together, had lunch, brought the kids. It was so fun to see everyone and to catch up. Sarah, Jamie, Kyle and Julia... I'm sure glad I got the chance to move in with you 6 years ago and sure glad we got to catch up and talk yesterday! =)
From left to right: Sarah & Cole, me and Allison, Julia, Jamie and her daughter Ellie, then Kyle, holding Jamie's second daughter, Meg.

I love my husband!

Neither Brian nor I believe that Valentine's Day should be expensive... I think that so much it means a lot more it is thoughtful (not that jewelry can't be thoughtful!). Brian was very thoughtful this year. Brian is a musician... he plays guitar and writes a lot of his own music. The song in the video is one he wrote in the last few years (I'm not exacly sure when). I loved it, and I wanted to share.
